My approach to photography is very modern with a timeless, classic touch.
I try to capture your wedding day memories in a photojournalistic style.
For example, unlike the posed shots of "stand here, do this, smile like
that" (which I will incorporate some of) I try to mostly get the emotional
shots that forever stand out in your memories. Imagine reliving those
very same feelings of your wedding day every time you open your album.
That's what I strive to do for you!
I always try to
tell "Your Wedding Day Story" through my photographs. I shoot
approximately 500 to 800+ photographs per wedding. I don't set a
limit; there is no limit on memories. At some weddings I've shot
1400 photographs.
Please keep in mind that I also do other types of photography besides
weddings such as senior photos, family portraits, head shots, maternity and baby
portraits, other special events, pets, landscape and business/commercial
shoots, but my passion remains in wedding photography. It's so amazing
to capture two lives joining into one.

| Just to get the shooting experience, I began to
professionally shoot weddings and other
special events for family and friends about 6 years ago. I found a great deal of
happiness and satisfaction through the camera's lens, and I began to get a
lot of positive feedback from my clients. That was when I decided to
take the chance of a lifetime and try pursuing what I loved. After all, you
want your photographer to be passionate about what they do.
I've been shooting weddings as my own business for a few years now, (with
the help of my husband to carry my heavy equipment). In order to keep
costs for my photography so low,
I conduct my photography business from my home and send all of my work to
specialists for developing. I use a Nikon D70s Digital Camera,
two AF zoom lenses, 500 watt Alienbee lights on 8 foot
stand to illuminate your reception, pocket wizard transmitters and
receivers to send radio frequencies to trigger the lights to fire from the
camera's shutter, plenty of batteries and tons of extension cords. |

You are probably wondering where the name
Melody comes from, considering my name is Melissa. Well, not only do I love photography, but music as well.
I've been singing since the age of 6 and I wanted to incorporate as much of my personality in this
business as possible. I figured that Melody would not
only be a unique name for my business, but one that was personal to me as well.
Besides, Melissa Photoartistry did not sound as good.
Photoartistry implies exactly the way it sounds, I look at my photos as a
work of art rather than a random shot. The reason for the butterflies scattered throughout this website, well,
they too hold a special meaning to me. They symbolize an independence
and breaking away from the past and beginning a new journey. That's
what I did with this business. Enjoy the rest of the site and I
look forward to meeting you to discuss your special day or portrait session. |
